VOTE “YES” FOR KEIZER FIRE
DISTRICT’S OPERATIONS LEVY

The Keizer Fire District is asking Keizer voters this November to pass their new operations levy. This levy asks for a modest increase to ensure Keizer Fire can respond to your emergency as quickly as possible.

Call volume has gone up a staggering 74% over the last 11 years, stretching Keizer Fire thin and increasing response times.

What to Know...

What is an operations levy?
An operations levy supports a district’s ability – like Keizer Fire District – to maintain necessary services to provide for the community. It does this by levying a small tax on property which accounts for approximately 25% of the fire district’s budget.
Didn’t I just vote for a new levy a few years ago?
Yes, in 2018 Keizer voters approved a five-year operating levy with 73% approval. That levy expires this year, which is why Keizer Fire District is coming to the voters once more.
Will I have to pay more taxes?
Yes, the new levy seeks to enact a $0.99 per $1,000 tax on assessed property value, a slight increase from the prior levy in 2018. According to estimates, the average Keizer resident would pay approximately $226 per year.
Is this new levy needed?
Absolutely. The new levy is needed in order for Keizer Fire to respond to your emergency promptly. The number of emergency calls has increased by 74% over the last 11 years. Plus, with new apartment units being built every year, this adds to the district’s burden.
What will the levy pay for?
The levy will help Keizer Fire respond to this increased demand by hiring additional firefighters and paramedics, re-hire a Fire and Life Safety Specialist, properly maintain life-saving equipment, and most critically ensure response times are low.
How can I help this levy pass?
You can show your support by telling your family and friends, placing a yard sign in your yard, donate to the campaign, or write to your local paper!
When is the election?
The election to vote on this levy is November 7, 2023. But ballots go in the mail on October 18, so you can mail your ballot in much sooner!
